About Me

From the very beginning, I have been in love with making art. When I was very young, I would paint along to the PBS painting shows. Working my way through school, I tried my hand at all forms of art. As a fine arts major with a minor in film making, I began to use my artistic abilities to create everything for my film projects. I was inspired by cartoons and TV of the 80’s and 90’s, and developed a very recognizable style, paying close attention to how characters moved, spoke and showed emotion. This led to me study the foundations of 3D animation, where I focused heavily on sculpture, posing, and getting an emotion across in a single frame. The time-consuming nature of animation allowed my mind to really look deep into a subject and then explore other forms of art such as music, dance, puppeteering, and set and lighting design.
 

Throughout history, art has been used to tell stories. When I see artwork based on Greek mythology, biblical themes, or century-old historical events, I often think that these were the stories of the times. Now, our daily lives are bombarded with so many stories, I find myself sifting through the shlock and focusing on the ones we love the most. They’re the ones with heart, cleverness, and characters you can relate to. Not just because they look like you, but because they’re a part of a well-crafted story—you see them rise and fall and grow as a character. And in that story lie the singular moments we all remember. 
 

My art often focuses on our fondest memories of a particular character or story. Taking iconic moments, favorite scenes and pushing them to emotional peaks, often creating a new idea or a single moment that captures the essence of an entire character. My goal is to get people to think about a story in a deeper way and to perhaps see exactly why these stories mean so much to them.

I hope you enjoy my work. My favorite part of each piece I create is the reaction from the patron when they finally see it. Tears of joy and laughter make it all very worthwhile.
